Angel Vazquez-Gring won the SILVER!
In Angel’s own words:
“So Basically at competition that I went to was far into Lancaster. There were 16 schools that competed throughout all of the competitions that were held. I competed against 3 other kids for waiter/waitress, which doesn’t seem like a lot but two of them have been working in the restaurant field for a couple of years. So I had a little bit of pressure. It was very difficult on the spot and 3 judges were watching every move. I had to set a dinner setting, have 2 napkin folds, serve 2 of the 3 judges, clear the table, take dinner reservations, and of course be polite. In the end I messed up with the dinner reservations I had to take and before the places were announced the main judge said that between 1st place and 2nd place there was a point or 2 differences. Then it was announced that I came in second. I was a little disappointed but realized there’s next year and I was happy to lose to someone with a lot of experience. I received a silver medal and will go for the gold next year for culinary, which is a cooking competition.”
Youth we need to meet.
Meeting March 28th at 10 am. In November 2009 you made $479 at the Spaghetti Dinner. You must decided who in the community you would like to help. The suggestions so far were Breast cancer, St. Jude’s Hospital or a young girl who we know who has a disease since birth and now needs some help (treatment/wig). She can no longer get help from the agency that did help her. Pastor Steve has requested that more youth be involved in the decision making. There are 16 identified youth in our group and approximately 8 or 9 helped at the Spaghetti Dinner. Would like to take your decision to April church council meeting on April 8, 2010 or no later that May’s meeting.
Set aside April 10, 2010 for 9th and 10th graders.
Special-day long event will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyo, Pa. The event will help young persons focus on how they can live out their baptismal promises. For more information ask Miss Diane.
